Julija Waljanzinauna Bitschyk ( Belarusian Юлія Валянцінаўна Бічык , Russian Юлия Валентиновна Бичик / Julia Valentinovna Bitschik * 1. April 1983 in Minsk , Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic , Soviet Union ) is a Belarusian rower who won two medals in four Olympic appearances.

Athletic career

Julija Bitschyk entered the rowing World Cup for the first time in 1998 at the age of fifteen and won the regatta in Munich in a four-man without a helmsman . At the 1998 World Championships , she finished fifth with the Belarusian eighth . In the 1999 World Cup season, she won her second World Cup race in the Belgian Hazewinkel in a foursome without a helmsman. At the age of sixteen years and almost five months, she competed in two disciplines at the World Championships in St. Catharines, Canada: with eighth place she finished seventh, in the four without a helmsman she won her first world champion title. In 2000 she won the two-man title without helmsman at the Junior World Championships with Marija Worona . at the Olympic Games in Sydney she finished fourth with the Belarusian eighth. In 2011 Bitschyk competed in the World Cup with Kuchta in a double scull, at the World Championships in Bled she started with Natallja Helach in a double without a helmsman, but the two only finished eleventh. At the end of the 2011 season, Bitschyk and Helach won two silver medals at the European Championships .
