Holly Norton (born January 1, 1993 in South Africa ) is a British rower .

Athletic career

Holly Norton began rowing in South Africa. At the Junior World Championships in 2011 , she and Catherine Tayler took eighth place in the two-man category without a helmsman .

Four years later she competed for the United Kingdom. Together with Rowan McKellar , she won the silver medal at the U23 World Championships . A month and a half after the U23 World Championships, Norton also started at the 2015 World Championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette. Together with Rebecca Chin , Karen Bennett , Lucinda Gooderham , she won the silver medal in the four without helmsman behind the boat from the United States. In 2016, the British foursome consisted of Fiona Gammond , Donna Etiebet , Holly Nixon and Holly Norton. At the World Championships in Rotterdam, the British won ahead of the US foursome.

In 2017, Karen Bennett and Holly Norton formed a pair without a helmsman. The two won the bronze medal at the European championships on the Račice rowing channel behind the boats from Romania and Denmark. At the World Championships in Sarasota , both belonged to the British eighth place , who finished in fifth place, almost three seconds behind silver and bronze. In 2018 Holly Norton competed in both the four and eight in the Rowing World Cup . At the European Championships in Glasgow she won the silver medal in eighth behind the Romanians. At the World Championships in Plovdiv , she finished sixth with eighth. In 2019 at the European Championships in Lucerne, as in the previous year, the Romanians won ahead of the British. Overseas boats won the World Championships in Linz / Ottensheim . Behind New Zealand, Australia, the USA and Canada, the British came in fifth ahead of the Romanians. Linked to fifth place was the direct qualification for the Olympic Games .

Holly Norton, who is six feet tall, studied psychology at Ohio State University . She belongs to the Leander Club .
