Julia Wilson

Julia Wilson (born September 23, 1978 in Sydney ) is a former Australian rower .

The 1.85 m tall Julia Wilson achieved sixth place in the quadruple sculls at the (unofficial) U23 World Championships in 1999 . At the 2000 Olympic Games in her hometown, she finished seventh with the double foursome. In the following year Julia Wilson rowed together with Jane Robinson , Jo Lutz and Victoria Roberts in the four without helmsman to the world title. In the world championship final in Lucerne , the Australians were just over a second ahead of the New Zealanders. The four rowers also competed with the eighth and also won the title in this boat class ahead of the boats from Romania and Germany. At the 2002 World Championships , Julia Wilson only competed in eighth and won the silver medal behind the US eighth, nine hundredths of a second behind the Australians, the German women's eighth received the bronze medal. At the 2003 World Championships , the Australian eighth was fourth and missed the medal positions by one and a half seconds. In the final of the 2004 Olympic Games , the Australian eighth was up to 400 meters from the finish in third place when Sally Robbins , sitting in front of Julia Wilson, collapsed; the boat crossed the finish line ten seconds behind the fifth-placed Germans.
