Lenka Wech

Lenka Dienstbach-Wech (born April 9, 1976 in Sokolov ) is a former German oar oars.

Act

Wech started for the Saarbrücken rowing club . In 1996 she missed the Olympics and instead took part in the World Championships for non-Olympic boats. There she won her first medal in the adult class in the four without a helmsman with bronze. Four years later, she and Claudia Barth competed in twos without a helmsman and finished sixth in the Olympic final. In the following years Lenka Wech belonged to the German women's eight . She won the title after two bronze medals in 2001 and 2002 at the 2003 World Championships in Milan. After participating in the Olympics for the second time in 2004with fifth place in eighth, she suspended for a year. In 2006, when she made her comeback, she was runner-up with eighth straight away. She took part in the Olympic Games 2008 together with Maren Derlien in two and reached the 4th place; the two also competed with the women's eight, who could not qualify for the A final.

She is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the World Rowing Federation FISA .

Lenka Wech completed her medical degree in Freiburg in 2003. Initially, she worked in maxillofacial surgery, but switched to trauma surgery and orthopedics. In 2011 she passed the specialist examination. Further focus areas are manual medicine and sports medicine. She has been married to the former world rowing champion Paul Dienstbach since May 17, 2014 .
