Maria Dumitrache

Maria Magdalena Dumitrache (born May 3, 1977 in Târgovişte ) is a former Romanian rower .

Maria Dumitrache took part in the Junior World Championships three times from 1993 to 1995 and started in the four without a helmsman and in the eight . In 1994 she won in a foursome, at the other five starts she won the silver medal. In 1996 and 1997 she started at the (unofficial) U23 World Championships in double sculls, in 1996 she won the silver medal, in 1997 the gold medal.

In 1998, in her first year in the adult class, she won the Rowing World Cup twice with the Romanian eighth. At the 1998 World Championships in Cologne, she won eighth place and finished fifth with the four-man without a helmsman. In 1999, the Romanian eighth won all three World Cup regattas and also won the World Championships in St. Catharines, Canada . In the 2000 World Cup season, the Romanian eighth finished once in third, once in second and once in first place. At the Olympic Games in Sydney Dumitrache won the gold medal with the eighth.

In 2001, the 1.87 m tall rower only rowed in the victorious eighth at the World Cup in Seville. After that, Maria Dumitrache's short but successful career ended.
