Kerry Simmonds

Kerry Simmonds (born April 3, 1989 in Palo Alto ) is an American rower , Olympic champion and two-time world champion in eight .

Simmonds began rowing at the University of Washington in 2007 . In 2011 she graduated in biology. She lives and trains in Princeton , New Jersey.

In 2010, Simmonds won the title in eighth place at the U23 World Championships , and in 2011 she finished fifth in the four without a helmsman . She made her international debut in the adult class in the US eighth with a win at the 2013 Rowing World Cup in Lucerne. At the 2013 World Championships in Chungju , the US eight won the title. In 2014, Kerry Simmonds also won a World Cup regatta with eighth on Lac d'Aiguebelette . At the same event she won in two without coxswain along with Megan Kalmoe second place behind the British women Helen Glover and Heather Stanning . The British boat also won the 2014 World Championships in Amsterdam , ahead of Kalmoe and Simmonds. The two crossed the finish line at the 2015 World Cup in Varese in the same order. At the 2015 World Championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette, Simmonds rowed back in eighth, who has continued his winning streak at World Championships and Olympic Games since 2006 and won the title in front of the boats from New Zealand and Canada. In 2016, Simmonds was one of the victorious US eighth at the 2016 Olympic Games .
