Beatrix Schröer
Beatrix Schröer , until 1986 Beatrix Lehmann (born May 4, 1963 in Meißen ), is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic . In 1988 she won the Olympic gold medal in eighth place .
The rower from SC Einheit Dresden became Junior World Champion in double sculls in 1980 and won the double sculls and double sculls at the Spartakiade in 1981 . In the adult class, she then switched to belt boats . In 1985 she won the GDR championship in eighth . At the 1985 World Cup in Hazewinkel, the boat from the GDR took second place behind the boat from the USSR. The crew consisted of Susann Heinicke , Gerlinde Doberschütz , Beatrix Lehmann, Martina Walther , Kathrin Thurm , Ute Stange , Kathrin Dienstbier , Carola Hornig and helmsman Sylke Kretzschmar . In 1986 she rowed in a foursome with a helmsman ; In the line-up of Kerstin Spittler , Beatrix Lehmann, Corinna Scheid , Carola Lichey and helmswoman Sylvia Müller , the boat won silver behind the Romanian foursome at the World Championships in Nottingham. At the world championship in 1987 she entered after her marriage as Beatrix Schröer and finished fourth with eighth place.
In 1988 the eighth competed in the GDR championship with Kerstin Spittler, Katrin Schröder , Annegret Strauch , Judith Zeidler , Anja Kluge , Ramona Balthasar , Beatrix Schröer and Ute Stange with helmswoman Daniela Neunast , this boat won the GDR championship. For the Olympic regatta in Seoul , Kathrin Haacker and Ute Wild stepped into the boat for Spittler and Schröder, the eighth won Olympic gold in front of the boats from Romania and China. For this victory she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in Gold.
Then Beatrix Schröer ended her career as a competitive athlete and worked as a day nursery teacher in Dresden.
