Kersten Neisser

Kersten Neisser (born May 4, 1956 in Halle (Saale) ) is a former rower from the GDR . She won Olympic gold in eighth place in 1980 .

Kersten Neisser started rowing in Halle and moved to SC DHfK Leipzig in 1974 . In 1977 she won gold at the World Championships in Amsterdam with eighth in the line-up of Corneliaügel , Ute Steindorf , Gabriele Lohs , Kersten Neisser, Marita Sandig , Andrea Kurth , Bianka Schwede , Karin Metze and taxwoman Sabine Heß .

In 1978 she switched to the Leipzig foursome with tax woman , who won gold at the World Championships in Hamilton , New Zealand, with Kersten Neisser, Angelika Noack , Marita Sandig, Ute Skorupski and tax woman Kirsten Wenzel . In the same line-up, the boat was defeated by the four-man from the Soviet Union at the World Championships in Bled in 1979 and received the silver medal.

After the GDR eighth also lost to the eighth from the Soviet Union , the boat crews were reassembled for the Olympic season. Kersten Neisser moved back to eighth in the line-up of Martina Boesler , Kersten Neisser, Christiane Köpke , Birgit Schütz , Gabriele Kühn , Ilona Richter , Marita Sandig, Karin Metze and Marina Wilke at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow with a one-second lead the Soviet boat won. For this success she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.

After completing her sports studies, she moved to Potsdam as a physiotherapist ; she was married to the Potsdam rowing trainer Roland Köpke. After the divorce she moved to Hamburg .
