Anne Kakela

Anne Summertime Kakela (born June 22, 1970 in Steamboat Springs , Colorado ) is a former American rower .

At the 1993 World Championships , Anne Kakela competed with Amy Fuller , Melissa Iverson , and Katherine Scanlon Lewis in the four without a helmsman and won silver behind the Chinese four, just under seven tenths of a second behind. The four rowers also belonged to the American eighth , which also won silver a second and a half behind the Romanian boat. The following year, Catriona Fallon , Amy Fuller, Anne Kakela and Monica Tranel-Michini fought behind the Dutch four-man silver at the World Championships in Indianapolis , in eighth the German rowers won ahead of the Americans. At the 1995 World Championships in Tampere , Anne Kakela only competed with the American eighth and won her only world champion title. The following year at the Olympic Games in Atlanta , Anne Kakela finished fourth with the US eight.
