from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1995 World Rowing Championships were held from August 20 to 28, 1995 on Lake Kaukajärvi near the city of Tampere , Finland under the rules of the World Rowing Federation (FISA). In 24 boat classes there were rowing world champion determined. The lightweight - two without coxswain was here for the first time included in the program.

The competitions also served as the main qualifying competition for the 1996 Olympic Rowing Regatta in Atlanta. After the number of participants in rowing for the Olympic rowing regatta in 1992 had risen to 627, the number of participants has now been limited for the first time. A few more quota places for the Olympic Games in Atlanta could be won in a qualification regatta in Lucerne on the Rotsee in 1996 .
