Anneke Venema
Anneke Venema (born January 19, 1971 in Veendam ) is a former Dutch rower. She is a two-time Olympic participant and won the silver medal as a member of the Dutch eighth at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney .
Venema began her sporting career with the Gyas rowing association in Groningen . She made her debut at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta . Together with Elien Meijer , she achieved eighth place in a two-man race without a helmsman . She then retired from rowing, but became a member of the Dutch eight in 1998. In this boat she achieved the greatest success of her career at the Summer Olympic Games in Sydney. Behind the boat from Romania, the Dutch women achieved the silver medal.
In 2001, Venema was elected an honorary member of her hometown club Gyas.
