Andrea Re

Andrea Re (* 15. November 1963 in Pavia ) is a former Italian lightweight - rowers , the 1984-1995 eleven World Championship medals, including eight gold medals won.

Athletic career

Re finished sixth at the 1983 World Championships with the lightweight four-man without a helmsman . In 1984 he switched to the lightweight eight, which won the silver medal behind the Danish boat at the 1984 World Championships .

From 1985 to 1991, the Italian lightweight eight won seven world titles in a row, with only Andrea Re and Fabrizio Ravasi were all successes there. The series ended at the 1992 World Championships when the Italian eighth finished fifth. Two bronze medals followed in 1993 and 1994. In 1995 Andrea Re switched to the Olympic boat class lightweight four without a helmsman and won his eighth world title here.

At the Olympic premiere of lightweight rowing in Atlanta in 1996 , the Italian four-man entered the world championship line-up, but missed the A-final and finished eighth overall. At the 1997 World Championships , Andrea Re finished fourth again with the four.

With a height of 1.85 meters, Andrea Re had a typical competition weight of around 73 kilograms for lightweights .
