Stephan Mølvig

Stephan Mølvig (born February 13, 1979 in Odense ) is a former Danish rower . He was Olympic champion and world champion in the lightweight foursome without a helmsman .

Athletic career

Mølvig finished fourth in the lightweight quadruple sculls at the U23 World Championships in 1998, and in 1999 he won the title in the lightweight quadruple without a helmsman. In 2000 he moved up to the Danish lightweight eighth in the adult class, after a second and a third place in the rowing world cup , the Danish eighth finished fifth at the world championships . The following year, the Danish eighth won the silver medal behind the French at the World Championships in Lucerne . In 2002 Mølvig switched to the lightweight four without a helmsman. Thor Kristensen , Thomas Ebert , Stephan Mølvig and Eskild Ebbesen won the World Cup in Munich. At the World Championships in Seville , the Danes won two seconds ahead of the Italian boat. In 2003 the Danish four-man took first, second and third place in the World Cup. At the 2003 World Championships, the Danes won ahead of the Dutch. In 2004 Bo Helleberg rowed for Stephan Mølvig in the World Cup , the Danes won the first regatta and finished sixth in the second regatta. Before the Olympic Games in Athens Mølvig returned to the foursome and in the line-up of the World Championships in 2002 and 2003 the boat also won the Olympic regatta, 1.4 seconds behind the Danes the Australian boat crossed the finish line.

The 1.80 m tall Stephan Mølvig competed for the Bagsværd Roklub .
