Niels Henriksen

Niels Laulund Henriksen (born February 4, 1966 in Gentofte ) is a former Danish rower . He was Olympic champion and world champion in the lightweight foursome without a helmsman .

Athletic career

Henriksen was eleventh in eighth at the 1984 Junior World Championships . At the World Championships in 1989 he won the silver medal behind the Italians with the Danish lightweight eighth, in 1993 the Danes rowed the silver medal behind the Canadians. In 1994 Henriksen switched to the Danish lightweight four without a helmsman, who won the world championship in the line-up of Victor Feddersen , Henriksen, Thomas Poulsen and Eskild Ebbesen at the 1994 World Championships in Indianapolis. In 1995 in Tampere , the Italian foursome won, the four Danes won the silver medal. At the Olympic premiere of lightweight rowing in Atlanta in 1996, the Danes won ahead of the Canadians.

Henriksen started for the Lyngby Roklub .
