Mads Kruse Andersen

Mads Christian Kruse Andersen (born March 25, 1978 in Nørre Alslev ) is a former Danish rower . He was Olympic champion in the lightweight foursome without a helmsman .

Athletic career

Andersen won the 1996 Junior World Championships in a double scull. At the 2001 World Championships , he finished fifth with the Danish lightweight double scull. In 2002 he switched to the lightweight eighth, with which he reached fourth place at the 2002 World Championships . In 2003 he formed a lightweight two-man with Bo Helleberg , who finished first and third in the Rowing World Cup . At the World Championships in 2003, the Danes won ahead of the German two-man, at the World Championships in 2004 they were able to win again, their lead over the Italian two-man was three tenths of a second.

In 2005 Andersen rowed in the lightweight four, in 2006 he returned to the lightweight eight, with which he finished fourth at the 2006 World Championships . At the 2007 World Championships in Munich , the Danish foursome reached sixth place with Bo Helleberg, Morten Jørgensen , Mads Kruse Andersen and Eskild Ebbesen . In the 2008 World Cup, the four-man competed with Thomas Ebert , Helleberg, Andersen and Ebbesen and took second place in Lucerne. At the Olympic Games in Beijing , Jørgensen rowed for Helleberg and in this line-up the Danes won the title ahead of the Poles and Canadians.

The 1.87 m tall Mads Kruse Andersen competed for the Saxkjøbing Roklub .
