Sam Scrimgeour (* 28. January 1988 in Kirriemuir , Angus , Scotland ) is a British lightweight - rowers . In 2015 he won the world title in the lightweight two-man without helmsman .

Scrimgeour began rowing at the University of Strathclyde in 2005 . At the U23 World Championships in 2010, he received the bronze medal with the lightweight quadruple scull. He won his first international medal in the adult class with silver at the 2012 European Championships in the lightweight four-man without a helmsman . In 2013 Scrimgeour and Mark Aldred won two regattas in the Rowing World Cup in the lightweight two-man without a helmsman, and at the 2013 World Championships , the two received bronze medals. The following year Scrimgeour and Jono Clegg won the silver medal in theEuropean Championships 2014 , at the World Championships 2014 they took third place. In 2015 Scrimgeour started the season in a lightweight four-man without a helmsman and finished fourth at the European Championships . For the world championships in the adult class, Scrimgeour formed a lightweight two-man together with Joel Cassells , the two won the world title. Cassells and Scrimgeour also won the 2016 European Championships and won the bronze medal at the 2016 World Championships .
