Laurent Porchier
Laurent Porchier (* 27. June 1968 in Bourg-de-Péage ) is a former French lightweight - rowers .
The 1.78 m tall Porchier took fourth place in the 1988 rowing world championships in the lightweight four-man without a helmsman . From the 1990 season came as Porchier Skull on -Ruderer. He finished third in the lightweight single at the U23 World Championships in 1990. At the world championships without age restriction, he rowed together with Bruno Boucher , Bruno Lebeda and Thierry Renault in the lightweight quad sculls to second place behind the Italian boat. The following year , the Australian crew won ahead of the Swedish foursome and the French, with Roland Galliac and Patrick Maiore on board as well as Renault and Porchier . At the World Rowing Championships in 1992 , the French double scull took sixth place, and in 1993 Porchier rowed with Benoît Le Délézir to fourth place in the lightweight double scull .
Porchier did not return to the regatta course until 1997, now again as a belt oarsman . At the 1997 World Rowing Championships , the lightweight four-man without a helmsman in the new composition with Xavier Dorfman , Frederic Pinon , Yves Hocdé and Laurent Porchier won the silver medal behind the Danish crew in front of a home crowd on Lac d'Aiguebelette . In 1998 in Cologne , the French boat with the same line-up again rowed silver behind the Danes. At the 1999 World Championships in St. Catharines, Canada, the Danes won ahead of the Australian foursome, while the French with Jean-David Bernard , Dorfman, Hocdè and Porchier received the bronze medal. In 2000 the French lightweight four-man won both the World Cup in Munich and Lucerne. At the Olympic Games in Sydney , the French team with Xavier Dorfman at the loft, Jean-Christophe Bette , Yves Hocdé and bowman Laurent Porchier won ahead of the Australian rowers and the Danes.
At the 2001 World Rowing Championships, the lightweight foursome won the bronze medal in the line-up for Olympic victory; all four rowers also sat in the French lightweight eighth and received the gold medal in this boat class. For Porchier, these world championships in Lucerne were the successful end of a long career.
