Stefano Oppo (* 12. September 1994 in Oristano ) is an Italian lightweight - rowers .

Career

The 1.87 m tall Oppo was the junior world champion in the four-man without a helmsman at the 2012 Junior World Championships, and in 2013 he won gold in the lightweight four-man without a helmsman at the U23 World Championships . In the same year he started at the world championships in Chungju in the lightweight eighth and also won a world title in the adult class. In 2014 he rowed together with Paolo Di Girolamo at the European championships in the lightweight two-man without a helmsman and took sixth place. At the U23 World Championships in 2014, Oppo won the bronze medal in the uncontrolled lightweight foursome. The following year, together with Martino Goretti , Livio La Padula and Alberto Di Seyssel, he achieved sixth place at the World Championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette and thus qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games . In Rio de Janeiro, the Italian lightweight four finished fourth with Goretti, La Padula, Oppo and Pietro Ruta . At the U23 World Championships in 2016, Oppo won the four-man title together with Paolo Di Girolamo, Alberto Di Seyssel and Piero Sfiligoi .

In 2017 Oppo switched to the lightweight double scull and together with Pietro Ruta won the bronze medal at the European championships and, behind the French, the silver medal at the world championships . The following year, the two won bronze at the European Championships and this time behind the Irish silver at the World Championships . In 2019, the two Italians took second place behind the German boat at the European Championships . As in the previous year, the Italians won silver behind the Irish at the World Championships .
