Simon Jefferies

Simon Jefferies (born July 11, 1955 in Nottingham ) is a former British helmsman in rowing

Athletic career

The 1.70 m tall Simon Jefferies drove the British eighth at the 1975 World Championships in his hometown of Nottingham , finishing ninth. Five years later he won the title at the 1980 World Championships in Hazewinkel with the eighth lightweight . Jefferies also drove the British lightweight eighth at the World Championships in Montreal in 1984 , which this time finished sixth.

In his only Olympic participation in 1988 in Seoul , Jefferies drove the British eighth, who competed in the cast Richard Stanhope , Anton Obholzer , Peter Beaumont , Gavin Stewart , Terence Dillon , Salih Hassan , Stephen Turner , Nicholas Burfitt and Simon Jefferies. The British took third place behind the boat from the USSR and the Canadians in the run-up, but won their hope run. In the final, the Germany eight won ahead of the boat from the USSR and the boat from the United States. Three seconds behind the US boat, the British took fourth place.

Simon Jefferies started for the Leander Club from Henley-on-Thames.
