World Rowing Championships 1980
The 1980 World Rowing Championships were held on the Hazewinkel regatta course near Mechelen , Belgium under the rules of the World Rowing Federation (FISA). The 14 Olympic boat classes were not used because of the Olympic rowing regatta in Moscow in 1980, so that the rowing world champions were only determined in four non-Olympic lightweight boat classes for men . The finals took place on August 16, 1980. At the same time, World Junior Championships in rowing were held on the Hazewinkel regatta course .
Results
The medal winners from the A finals are listed here. These were manned by six boats, which had to qualify for the finals through preliminary runs, hope runs and semi-finals. The length of the course was 2000 meters in all races.
