World Rowing Championships 2005
The 2005 World Rowing Championships ( Japanese 2005 年 FISA 世界 ボ ー ト 選手 権 大会 , 2005-nen FISA Sekai Bōto Senshukentaikai ) were held on the Nagara River at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course in Kaizu , Gifu Prefecture in Japan between August 28 and September 4 Held in 2005. The 28th World Championships were the first World Rowing Championships to be held in Asia. More than a thousand athletes took part.
At the World Championships, numerous world best times were undercut in the preliminary races , but these were not recognized by the FISA because of the strong current.

Para rowing competitions
The world championship races in the Para classes are usually held over the Paralympic distance of 1000 meters. Only at the rowing world championships in 2005 was the world championship title in the LTA mixed foursome with a helmsman as a test measure over the Olympic distance of 2000 meters.
