Alexander Matthew "Alex" Partridge (born January 25, 1981 in San Francisco ) is a former British rower . He won three world championship titles as well as an Olympic silver and bronze medal.

Career

Alex Partridge started rowing in 1995 and has rowed for the Leander Club since graduating from Oxford Brookes University .

In 1998 Partridge won the bronze medal in a two-man with a helmsman at the Junior World Championships , followed by a silver medal in a four-man without a helmsman in 1999 . In 2001 Partridge won his first world championship medal in the adult class with bronze in a foursome with helmsman . In 2002 Partridge moved to the British eight ; In 2003 he also won a bronze medal here at the World Championships.

In the 2004 World Cup season, Partridge rowed in a four-man without a helmsman, who won the regatta in Poznan and, after finishing fifth in Munich, took third place in Lucerne. Partridge was on the crew in all three regattas , along with Matthew Pinsent and Steve Williams , while Ed Coode , Tom Stallard and James Cracknell tried their hand at fourth . Together with Pinsent, Williams and Cracknell, Partridge was nominated for the Olympic Games in Athens, but was then diagnosed with a collapsed lung .
