Sebastian Thormann
Sebastian Thormann (born February 21, 1976 in Wermelskirchen ) is a former German rower .
Sebastian Thormann by the RG Wertheim won 1997 his first German championship in eighth , 2001 and 2002, followed by two more titles in this boat class. In 1999 he won the championship title in four with helmsman . In addition, from 2002 to 2004 he was three times German champion in the four without a helmsman .
At the 2001 World Rowing Championships , the German four-man without a helmsman with Bernd Heidicker , Philipp Stüer , Paul Dienstbach and Sebastian Thormann won the silver medal behind the British four-man. A year later, the four rowers were able to beat the British boat at the World Championships in Seville and win the title. In 2003 in Milan , the Canadian boat won ahead of the British, the German four won the bronze medal. At the Olympic Games in Athens , Jochen Urban , Thormann, Strüer and Heidicker missed the A-final and took seventh place.
Today Sebastian Thormann lives in Lucerne , Switzerland . He works as an orthopedist, sports medicine specialist and trauma surgeon at Medicum Wesemlin and works as an attending doctor.
He has been volunteering for the National Anti-Doping Agency in Germany for many years. He is the chairman of the Medical Commission of NADA and a member of the TUE Expert Group of WADA.
