Thomas Greiner (born May 3, 1963 in Dresden ) is a German rowing athlete. He was a gold medalist in the GDR at the 1988 Olympic Games .

Career

At the age of nine, he learned rowing in 1972 at what was then BSG Motor Dresden Niedersedlitz , today's club name Dresdner Ruderverein . He had his great sporting success with what was then SC Einheit Dresden , rowing section. Its successor is the Dresden Rowing Club 1902 .

In January 2000 he passed the national competition judge test of the German Rowing Association (DRV) and has been involved in rowing again since then. Since 2005 he has also been an international FISA competition judge .

Thomas Greiner has two children. For his Olympic victory in 1988 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold.
