Ralf Brudel (born February 6, 1963 in Potsdam ) is a former rower who first started for the GDR and after the reunification for the reunified Germany .

He learned to row at the Werder rowing club , and later switched to SC Berlin-Grünau .

In the world rowing championships he has won numerous titles over the course of his career. He won silver in the men's eight in Lucerne in 1982 , silver in the men's eight in 1983 in Duisburg , bronze in the four without a helmsman at the 1986 World Championships in Nottingham , gold in the four without a helmsman in 1987 in Copenhagen , gold in the four without a helmsman in 1989 in Bled and Bronze in the four without a helmsman in 1990 in Tasmania . At the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, he won a gold medal in the four-man without a helmsman. After reunification, he was able to go to the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and again to win an Olympic medal (silver) in a four-man without a helmsman.

For this he received the silver bay leaf on June 23, 1993 .

In addition to his international titles, Brudel was GDR champion more than 13 times between 1982 and 1989. In 1988 he received the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold for his Olympic victory in Seoul .
