The Sportclub Berlin-Grünau e. V. (short SCBG) is a sports club from Berlin . In addition to canoeing and rowing, he also offers health sports. The headquarters of the association is also the location for the Federal Canoe and Rowing Center and is located on the Berlin-Grünau regatta course .

history

The SC Berlin-Grünau emerged from the TSC Berlin on October 27, 1969 and took over its water sports departments of rowing, sailing and canoeing. The water sports enthusiasts of the TSC have belonged to the top of the GDR since it was founded in 1963 and have won several GDR championship titles. This success story was continued in the SCBG.

The basis of TSC's success was again formed by the company sports associations (BSG) from Köpenick and Grünau , which were founded shortly after the end of the Second World War and which were combined in 1955 to form the sports clubs SC Einheit Berlin and TSC Oberschöneweide as umbrella organizations for the various sports. The two sports clubs were finally merged with the SC Rotation Berlin in 1963 to form TSC Berlin.

The SCBG used a total of five boathouses . In 1980 he moved into the newly built boathouse at Regattastraße 279. At that time it was the most modern boathouse in the GDR. The 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul were the club's most successful with ten Olympic champions .

After the reunification in the GDR and the looming dissolution of the German Gymnastics and Sports Federation (as the umbrella organization for all sports clubs), the club was founded on May 23, 1990 as SC Berlin-Grünau e. V. new. In addition to opening up to children's and recreational sports , a health sports department was also started. The yacht club Berlin-Grünau was spun off in 1997 with the sailing department . On March 5, 2004, the Shenzou Dragons formed a separate department for dragon boat sports .
