Martina Bishop

Martina Bischof , née Martina Fischer (born November 23, 1957 in Berlin ), is a former German canoeist .

The canoe racer of SC Berlin-Grünau won her first GDR championship title in 1976 together with Marion Rösiger in a two-man kayak . The two were able to successfully defend the championship title until 1979, and in 1979 they also won in a four-person kayak together with Birgit Fischer and Roswitha Eberl . In 1977 and 1978 Martina Fischer and Marion Rösiger won the world championships .

In 1979 Martina Fischer married the canoeist Frank-Peter Bischof . Martina Bischof and Marion Rösiger finished second at the 1979 World Championships. After that, Rösiger was removed from the GDR cadres because of western contacts. For the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 Martina Bischof and Carsta Genüß from Dresden formed a team. The two won the gold medal in Moscow. In 1978 and 1980 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit for her sporting achievements .

After her career, she worked as a transport clerk in her learned profession.
