Agneta Andersson

Agneta Monica Andersson (born April 25, 1961 in Karlskoga ) is a former Swedish canoeist . She is a three-time Olympic and world champion.

Career

Andersson won the gold medal in the 500 m single kayak at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and, together with Anna Olsson, the gold medal in the two-person kayak over 500 m. She also won a silver medal as a member of the Swedish four-seater kayak.

She was able to confirm her successes at the Summer Olympics in 1992 , when she and Susanne Gunnarsson won the silver medal in a two-man kayak over 500 m and another bronze medal with a four-man kayak.

The following year, she and Anna Olsson won the only world championship of her career at the canoe world championships in two-person kayaks. It was the first ever women's two-man kayak world title for Sweden in canoeing history.

Andersson won the last major international title in 1996 at the Olympic Games in Atlanta , when she and Susanne Gunnarsson became Olympic champion for the third time in a two-man kayak. For this achievement they both received the prestigious Svenska Dagbladet gold medal .
