Kateryna Serhijiwna Kuryschko after marriage Kateryna Serhijiwna Nahirna , ( Ukrainian Катерина Сергіївна Куришко , Russian Екатерина Сергеевна Курышко : Yekaterina Sergeyevna Kuryschko ; born on 12. April 1949 in Teplé , Poltava , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Soviet canoeist .

Life

Kuryschko began her international career at the 1971 World Championships in Belgrade. In a two-person kayak over 500 meters, she and Tamara Popowa took third place behind the boats from Hungary and the GDR. In a four-person kayak , the Soviet crew with Kuryschko, Natalja Boiko , Julija Rjabtschinskaja and Lyudmila Pinajewa won ahead of the two German boats from the west and east.

The four-person kayak was not on the program at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich . Soviet canoeists won in both Olympic boat classes, in the one Rjabtschinskaja and in the two Pinajewa and Kuryschko. The two had already won the lead well ahead of the boat from the GDR; At the finish of the final, the two Soviet canoeists were 0.8 seconds ahead of the boat from the GDR.

In 1975 Kateryna Nahirna competed under her married name at the World Championships , which were held in Belgrade as in 1971. Together with Galina Kreft she took second place behind the boat from the GDR. The female canoeists from the GDR also won in the four, behind them Larissa Besnitzkaja , Kateryna Nahirna, Nadeschda Trachimenok and Galina Kreft won the silver medal.
