Anna Gunilla Olsson (born March 14, 1964 in Timrå ) is a former Swedish canoeist . She was an Olympic and world champion.

Athletic career

Anna Olsson and Agneta Andersson won the gold medal in the two-man kayak over 500 meters at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, almost two seconds ahead of the Canadians and the Germans. The next day the Romanian boat won in a four-person kayak with a half-second lead over Agneta Andersson, Anna Olsson, Eva Karlsson and Susanne Wiberg .

Four years later at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , Olsson and Andersson finished sixth in a two-man, while Olsson, Andersson, Susanne Gunnarsson (-Wiberg) and Liselotte Ohlsson also came sixth in a four-man . Olsson won her first world championship medal in Paris in 1991 when Andersson and Olsson won the bronze medal in a pair behind the Germans and Hungarians. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , Anna Olsson competed with Maria Haglund , Susanne Rosenqvist and Agneta Andersson in a foursome and won bronze behind the Hungarians and Germans.

In 1993 Anna Olsson won three medals at the World Championships in Copenhagen . In a single kayak she received silver behind the German Birgit Fischer . In a two-person kayak, Olsson and Andersson also won the world title nine years after their Olympic victory. The Germans won in a four-kayak ahead of Andersson, Haglund, Rosenqvist and Olsson. In 1994, at the World Championships in Mexico City, the 5000 meter competitions that had been held since 1989 were replaced by new competitions over 200 meters. Anna Olsson won silver in the single over 200 meters behind the Hungarian Rita Kőbán . In the foursome over 500 meters the Germans won ahead of the Hungarians, behind them Andersson, Haglund, Rosenqvist and Olsson received the bronze medal. Also at the 1995 World Championships in Duisburg , competitions over 200 meters and over 500 meters were on the program. Olsson won bronze in the single over 200 meters behind Rita Kőbán and the Canadian Caroline Brunet . Four years later, Anna Olsson took part in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , her fifth participation in the Olympics.
