Natasa Janics (Croatian: Nataša Janić , Serbian: Наташа Јанић, after her marriage Natasa Douchev-Janics ; born June 24, 1982 in Bačka Palanka , Yugoslavia ) is a Hungarian canoeist of Serbian-Croatian origin.

Career

Janics started first for Yugoslavia, then for Serbia and Montenegro , and since 2002 for Hungary , both in single , double and quad kayaks . Janics has won three gold and one silver medals at the Olympic Games so far. In Sydney , then still starting for Yugoslavia, she finished fourth in a single kayak. In 2004 she won in singles and with her partner Katalin Kovács in K-2, four years later the two won again in K-2 and took silver in K-4.

Starting the first world title for Hungary, she won in Seville in 2002 in a four-man kayak in the 200 m sprint. In two-person kayaking, she was dominant with Kovács from 2005, she won three gold medals at the World Championships in Zagreb in 2005 over 200, 500 and 1000 meters. In 2006, the two managed this triple again in two and for the first time in four.

She was named Sportswoman of the Year in Hungary in 2004. Her club is Démász Szeged Vízisport Egyesület, where she trains with Viktor Vécsi and Nandor Sári. With a height of 1.74 meters, she has a competition weight of 67 kg.

Natasa Janics is the daughter of Milan Janić , who won the silver medal in a single kayak over 1000 meters for what was then Yugoslavia at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . Her brothers Mićo and Stjepan Janić are also canoeists. She is married to the Bulgarian canoeist Andrian Duschew .
