Franziska Weber and Tina Dietze in the K2

Tina Dietze (born January 25, 1988 in Leipzig , GDR ) is a German canoeist and Olympic champion .

Career

Through her aunt, who was already an instructor and trainer in the canoe club of the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe sports association , she got into canoe racing at the age of five. This was followed by state, regional and youth championships, in which she was very successful. At the end of 2002 she changed the training group and was trained by Aaron Heuschmidt. Here she made it into the junior national team of the German Canoe Association in 2004, 2005 and 2006. After she passed the examination for the general university entrance qualification at the sports high school in Leipzig in 2006 , she joined the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr , now with the rank of sergeant. In 2007 and 2008 she was part of the U23 national team. In 2007 she qualified for the first time for the German national canoe racing team in the performance class. At the 2009 World Championships in Dartmouth , Canada , Dietze, together with Carolin Leonhardt , Katrin Wagner-Augustin and Conny Waßmuth, became world champion in the four-person kayak over 200 m and took two second places in the four-person kayak over 500 m and in the two-person kayak over 1000 m. At the European Championships in Brandenburg / Havel in 2009 , she had already secured her first European title in the performance class in a four-person kayak.

At the Olympic Games 2012 Dietze achieved the silver medal over 500 m in the German women's four-man kayak with Carolin Leonhardt , Franziska Weber and Katrin Wagner-Augustin . In a two-person kayak over 500 m she won the gold medal together with Franziska Weber. This made her, together with her two and four-man partner Franziska Weber, the second most successful German athlete at the Olympic Games in London, behind eventing rider Michael Jung .

Dietze was also successful at the 2013 World Championships in Duisburg. She won gold over 200 and 500 meters in a two-person kayak with Weber, and she also won silver in a four-person kayak over 500 meters with Weber, Katrin Wagner-Augustin and Verena Hantl . Only the Hungarian team was faster. At the 2014 World Championships in Moscow, she won a silver medal in a two-man kayak with Weber over 200 meters.
