German national canoe racing team
The German national canoe racing team is the selection team of the German Canoe Association for international competitions in canoe racing . It is newly formed annually in spring (April / May) on the basis of qualification events. The head national coach decides on the exact deployment concept shortly before the competition .
Since the German reunification, the team has been the most successful canoe team in the world and has achieved numerous victories and medals at the Olympic Games and Canoe World Championships . The most successful title fights for the team were the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona with six Olympic victories and the 2005 Canoe Racing World Championships in Zagreb , where the German team won 10 of the 27 disciplines.
Reiner Kießler was the head national coach until 2016 , and DKV sports director Jens Kahl has also been head coach since then.
