Erik Leue

Erik Leue (born August 9, 1985 in Magdeburg ) is a German canoeist .

The canoe racer comes from a family of canoeists. His older sister Friederike Leue is also part of Germany's national team, while his younger sister Romy Leue is a young athlete. All start for the SC Magdeburg where they are trained by their father Eckhard Leue .

In 2007 he was able to qualify for the German national canoe racing team for the first time . At the European Championships in 2007 he was sixth in the four-man canoe over 200 m, at the Canoe Racing World Championships in Duisburg 2007 Leue won the silver medal in this boat class with Stefan Holtz , Thomas Lück and Robert Nuck behind the team from Romania over 1000 m. In 2008 he started at the U23 World Championships and finished fourth in the 500 m and won the final run in the 1000 m in the single-canoe competitions.

At the end of 2008, Leue was accepted into the competitive sports project of the Federal Police in Cottbus and came there with Olympic champion Tomasz Wylenzek , who had been looking for a new partner since the 2008 Olympic Games. From then on, Leue and Wylenzek trained together and won the silver medal in the two-man canoe over 1000 m at the 2009 European Championships in Brandenburg an der Havel . At the Canoe Racing World Championships 2009 in Dartmouth (Canada) they were world champions in this discipline.

At the 2013 World Championships in Duisburg, Leue won the gold medal in the four-man canoe over 1000 m with Kurt Kuschela, Peter Kretschmer and Erik Rebstock. The following day he won bronze in the single over 500 m.
