Stefan "Holtzi" Holtz (born February 27, 1981 in Neubrandenburg ) is a German canoeist .

Holtz began his career at SC Neubrandenburg , but at the beginning of his international career he switched to the Rheinbrüdern Karlsruhe . His exercise bike was Detlef Hofmann . He specialized in the Canadian -Disziplin the Canoe Sprint and paddle on the left side. His first international success was winning the 1998 European Junior Championships in two-man canoes . In 2005 he was able to qualify for the senior national team for the first time and won the bronze medal in the four-man canoe over 1000 m at the World Championships in Zagreb . In 2006 in Szeged he won the world championship over 1000 m with the four-man canoe and silver with Robert Nuck in the two-man canoe. At the 2007 World Championships he won two silver medals in the four-man canoe over 500 and 1000 m.

The 2.02 m tall athlete was unable to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing because the German Canoe Association only nominated three athletes from the canoe disciplines. In the spring of 2009 Robert Nuck moved from SC DHfK Leipzig to Karlsruhe for a year in order to be able to train with Holtz. The duo won the titles at the Canoe Racing World Championships in 2009 and at the Canoe Racing European Championships in 2009 over 500 m and took bronze over 200 m each. In 2010 he was only able to compete in the single canoe because of an injury to Nuck .

Holtz worked as a customer service fitter and lived in Karlsruhe until December 2010. On January 1, 2011, he relocated to Regensburg and moved from the Rheinbrüdern Karlsruhe to SC DHfK Leipzig , where he is trained by Kay Vesely . His two-man partner Robert Nuck had already returned to Leipzig in 2010, but the duo could not qualify for the European Championships 2011 with an eighth place over 1000 m in the qualifying race in Duisburg in early April 2011 and was then dissolved. At the 2011 World Championships , he and his new partner Tomasz Wylenzek won the 1000 m title.

At the 2013 World Championships , Holtz won the two-man canoe with Robert Nuck, the 200-meter title. He also won silver in the 200 meter relay with Nuck, Stefan Kiraj and Sebastian Brendel .
