Stefan Kiraj (born May 11, 1989 in Spremberg , GDR ) is a German canoeist .

The canoe racer from the KC Potsdam began canoeing in 2000 at the Spremberg Division Canoeing. In 2007 he won his first international medal at the Junior World Championships with silver in the four-man canoe. In 2010 he made the leap into the German national canoe racing team , at the world championship he finished fifth in the two-man canoe and was U23 European champion in this boat class. At the 2011 World Championships , he won his first World Championship medal with bronze in the C1 relay, and two years later there was World Cup silver in the relay. In the following years he took part in the world championships several times.

At the Canoe Racing World Championships 2015 in Milan, Kiraj competed in a single canoe over 200 m, but with a 6th place in the B final he missed the quota for the Olympic Games in Rio . Even in the continental qualification in May 2016, he could not achieve a quota place.

After the International Canoe Association (ICF) banned two Belarusian athletes for positive doping results in July 2016, the German Canoe Association was given two more starting positions in the Canadier, which meant that Kiraj was subsequently nominated for the German Olympic team. He started in Rio in the single canoe over 200 m and was eliminated there in the semifinals.

At the canoe racing world championships in 2017 he became world champion in the four-man canoe with Sebastian Brendel , Jan Vandrey and Conrad Scheibner .
