- 493 : After the battle of ravens at Ravenna , Odoacer and the Ostrogoth ruler Theodoric agree a peace treaty through the mediation of Archbishop John of Ravenna, which provides for joint rule over Italy by both kings.
- 1458 : Georg von Podiebrad is elected King of Bohemia , whereby the estates ignore other claims to the throne. This led to various uprisings in Bohemia.
- 1531 : As a reaction to the rejection of the Confessio Augustana at the Reichstag in Augsburg in 1530 by Emperor Charles V , the Protestant estates of the Holy Roman Empire merge at the Schmalkalden convent to form the Schmalkaldic League .
- 1594 : After July 25 last year to Catholicism is converted, is Henry IV. In the Cathedral of Chartres to French crowned king. Although the Catholic aristocrats reluctantly defected to him, the Eighth Huguenot War lasted around four years.

- 1764 : Pope Clement XIII. prohibits reading the book De statu ecclesiae et legitima potestate Romani pontificis liber singularis , published under the pseudonym Justinus Febronius the year before, and puts it on the index Librorum Prohibitorum . The spread of the thoughts of Febronianism through multiple reprints does not stop this. The Auxiliary Bishop of Trier, Johann Nikolaus von Hontheim , was revoked years later after his exposure as an author.
- 1767 : The Spanish King Charles III. issues a Jesuit ban . The Jesuits are then arrested and taken out of the country.

Disasters
