Martin Auer (musician, 1963)

Martin Ludwig Auer (born February 27, 1963 in Werl ) is a German jazz trumpeter .

Auer came to music at the age of nine; his first instrument was an accordion . At the age of eleven he switched to the trumpet. He initially played brass music , but also chorales and old music in the trombone choir . Later came the piano and at the age of 15 he started playing in bands. From 1983 he studied with Manfred Schoof and Klaus Osterloh at the Cologne University of Music , where he later received a teaching position for ensemble playing. During this time he played with the Cologne Big Band and the Cologne Music Big Band under Jerry van Rooyen , but also with the Woodhouse Jazz Band and then with Paul Kuhn . He has been a member of the hr big band since 1996 ; he also appears with the trio of Christof Sänger , with the Oscar Canton Swing Giants and with Sigi's Jazz Men .
