Jürgen Wölfer

Jürgen Wölfer (born December 25, 1944 in Eisleben ; † July 24, 2015 ) was a German music author and historian with a focus on jazz .

Life

Wölfer studied education , graduated with a diploma and worked for a long time in the record industry, where he was most recently product manager for jazz and classical music at BMG . He is known as the author of several jazz lexicons, wrote a lexicon of popular music (excluding Schlager, rock music, folk music) and film composers. He also wrote a biography of Dizzy Gillespie and authored discographies by Anita O'Day , Pérez Prado and Johnny Richards (bio discography). He lived in Gütersloh .
