Pierre Champion
Pierre Champion (born February 27, 1880 in Paris , † June 29, 1942 in Nogent-sur-Marne ) was a French historian, Medievalist and Romanist .
life and work
Champion studied at the École nationale des chartes and graduated in 1905. In addition to successful works on the history of literature (see below), he published historical works on Jeanne d'Arc, Louis XI. and about the 16th century, as well as a novel ( Françoise au calvaire , Paris 1924).
From 1919 until his death he was mayor of Nogent-sur-Marne. From 1940 to 1942 Champion was a member of the Académie des sciences morales et politiques (1940) and the Académie Goncourt .
Pierre Champion was the son of the publisher Honoré Champion (1846–1913) and the brother of the publisher Edouard Champion (1882–1938).
