Baldomero Aguinaldo

Baldomero Aguinaldo y Baloy (born February 27, 1869 in Kawit , Cavite Province , † February 4, 1915 in Manila ) was a Philippine revolutionary leader and general in the Philippine-American War , on the side of the First Philippine Republic .

Life

Baldomore Aguinaldo was born to Cipriano Aguinaldo and Silveria Baloy. He began his education at a private school in San Rogue. After graduating from primary school, he enrolled at the Ateneo Municipal, now Ateneo de Manila University , but dropped out and enrolled at the Pontifical and Royal University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Manila to study law. However, he failed the exam in 1896. With the outbreak of the Philippine Revolution in August 1896, he was unable to repeat it either, since he decided to join the Katipunan and follow his cousin Emilio Aguinaldo .

He was involved in the battles of Binakayan, Dalahican and Noveleta (November 9-10, 1896); in Zapote on February 17, 1897; in Salitran March 7 and the Battle of Alapan, Imus on May 28, 1898. The latter was the first victory of the Revolutionary Army during the war. He signed the constitution of Biak-na-Bato and was the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Biak-na-Bato . Baldomero Aguinaldo followed his cousin into exile in Hong Kong and was a co-founder of the Hong Kong Committee .

After the outbreak of the Spanish-American War , he returned to Manila. After the declaration of independence on June 12, 1898, he became Minister of Finance and was responsible for public relations. After the proclamation of the first Philippine Republic, he served in the cabinet under Apolinario Mabini as Minister of War and Finance until May 7, 1899. He was then commander of the Revolutionary Army in the south of the island of Luzon . After the end of the war he withdrew into his private life disappointed. In 1912 he became president of the Philippine Veteran's Association .

On February 4, 1915, he died of a heart attack . He was later officially buried in the Barangay Binakayan cemetery in Kawit.
