Boleslav Jablonský
Boleslav Jablonský (actually Karel Eugen Tupý , monastery name Eugen ; born January 14, 1813 in Kardašova Řečice ; † February 27, 1881 in Zwierzyniec near Cracow ) was a Czech poet.
Life
After attending grammar school in Neuhaus , Jablonský studied philosophy and theology in Prague , entered Strahov Monastery and in 1847 became provost of the Premonstratensian monastery in Cracow, where he died in February 1881. Jablonský was buried in the Vyšehrad Memorial Cemetery in Prague .
Work and meaning
Jablonský was one of the most popular Czech lyric poets in the 19th century , whose love songs (Písně milosti) found widespread use and were composed many times over. Also a didactic poem: Solomon or The Wisdom of the Father (Salomon neboli Moudrost otcova) , wrote Jablonský. A complete edition of his poems (Básně) appeared in the 5th edition (Prague 1872).
