Abelardo Arias (* 1918 in Córdoba , Argentina , † February 27, 1991 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine writer.

biography

Abelardo Arias was born in 1918 (1908 according to other sources) in Córdoba city, Argentina, although he liked to claim that he was born in San Rafael, Mendoza province. He was a writer and dramaturge and made his debut in 1942 with the novel "Álamos talados", which has autobiographical elements. He died on February 27, 1991 in Buenos Aires.

“Álamos talados” won first prize for literature in the province of Mendoza in 1942 and first prize in the city of Buenos Aires, awarded by the National Commission for Culture, and was made into a film 20 years later using the script by Arias. In 1947 “La vara de fuego” was published and in 1956 “El gran Cobarde”. Other outstanding publications included "Límite de clase" (1964), "Minotauroamor" (1966), "La viña estéril" (1969).

Abelardo Arias wrote 4 travel diaries and various plays, and he was the director of the library of the "Colegio de Escribanos de Argentina".
