from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Evi Goffin (born  February 27, 1981 in Antwerp ) is a Belgian singer . Her singing voice is similar to that of Kim Wilde . She became known through the commercially very successful vocal trance formation Lasgo , whose front woman she was until the beginning of 2008.

history

Medusa 1998-2000

At the age of 17, Evi received her first recording contract. Under the pseudonym Medusa she was a guest singer for Fiocco and 2 Fabiola . The single Miss You with Fiocco was very successful in Belgium at the beginning of 1999 and reached number 14 in the Flemish charts.

In February 1999 Goffin took part in the Belgian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 . Thanks to a wildcard, she was allowed to compete in the Belgian final. With her solo song Into My Life , however, she failed miserably and took last place.

At the TMF Awards in October 1999 Evi was introduced as the new singer of the dance project 2 Fabiola. The song New Years Day , a cover version of the U2 song of the same name , reached number 12 on the Flemish charts in November 1999. The second single Summer In Space by 2 Fabiola, with her as a vocalist, was released in April 2000, but at number 28 in the charts, it could not match the success of the first single. In autumn 2000 2 Fabiola broke up because Pat Krimson, the producer of the project, moved to Ibiza with his partner .

Lasgo 2001-2008

Goffin's international breakthrough came with Lasgo . The debut single Something stormed the charts worldwide in 2001. The debut album Some Things and the singles from it were also very successful. The second album Far Away from 2005 and the accompanying singles were only a success in Goffin's home country Belgium.

After the birth of their first child, there were no new Lasgo publications. When after June 2006 there were no performances by Lasgo either, rumors soon arose that Evi was no longer available as a singer. The rumors were reinforced in early December 2007 by a Belgian newspaper report that Evi was considering leaving Lasgo and that her decision would be announced by February 2008. At the end of May 2008 it was clear that Evi had left Lasgo because a new singer was being sought for the Lasgo project.

The official reason given for the time-out or resignation was that Goffin wanted to look after her family more. She did not reveal the real reasons until October 2008, as she was contractually forbidden to speak about it beforehand. She never intended to leave Lasgo. There would be conflicts with your management and the like. a. got over their pay. In addition, she was not allowed to be musically active outside of Lasgo, and a solo career was not allowed.

From 2009 on

Immediately after the contract with Lasgo expired at the end of September 2008, Goffin announced that she was already busy recording a new single. Her private musical ambitions were reflected in the end of 2008: together with Gerd Hofman she founded the pop-rock band "Sad Suzy".

At the end of December 2009, the single Hate to Love , created in collaboration with the Swedish DJ and producer Alex Sayz, was presented to the public for the first time and released on January 19, 2010 in the USA . The single reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay Chart.

Evi Goffin worked as a presenter ( VJ ) for the Belgian television channel GUNKtv from May 2009 and presented the program Wango Tango there . In January 2011, like many other GUNKtv presenters before her, she switched to the online television station GameNuts.

In the spring of 2013 Goffin founded the Dutch-speaking hit group "De Grietjes" together with Isabelle A and Anneke von Hooff. Because of the birth of her third child, she left the group in the middle of the following year. She was replaced by Silvy de Bie .

At the end of 2014, Goffin returned as a solo artist with the hit single Kus me . As with Lasgo , she worked with producer David Vervoort . More singles were released in mid-2015: Herboren and Glad all Over .

Private

At the beginning of February 2005 it was announced that Evi was expecting a child from her husband Tom. Their son Diesel was born on June 14, 2005. Evi has two other children with her husband: Bender and Jools Finnegan.
