Silvy De Bie (* 4 January 1981 in Heist-op-den-Berg , Belgium ), better known as Silvy Melody or briefly Sil or Silvy , is a Belgian singer who primarily by the vocal trance -Formation Sylver known has become.

Life

Childhood and youth

In her homeland she was already a star as a child. At the age of 9 she started her music career on the Belgian TV show De Kinderacademie . Several singles were released under her stage name "Silvy Melody". However, since the Belgian law forbids work for children under 16 years of age, the career was put to an end for the time being. Among other things, Silvy worked as a model and sang on some occasions. A successful new start as a singer failed in 1998: the single Find Me An Angel by the girl group Lace, with her as the lead singer, flopped across the board. The Lace project has been discontinued.

Worldwide success with Sylver

Her breakthrough came in 2000 when she was approached by DJ and producer Wout van Dessel in a Belgian club . Since then both have been working together. The duo initially called themselves Liquid featuring Silvy . With the debut single Turn The Tide they made it to number 1 in the Belgian charts in 2000. A year later they started as Sylver in the rest of Europe. In Germany, Turn The Tide stayed in the top 10 for weeks and reached number 2. The following songs and the album Chances also reached high chart positions and were awarded gold. On Chances album followed Little Things with the Top 10 single Livin 'My Life , as well as the albums Nighttime Calls (2005) and Crossroads (2006). With the album Sacrifice (2009) and the released single Foreign Affair , they celebrated their greatest successes in Belgium since their debut. On February 20, 2013, De Bie announced her departure from Sylver.

Side projects and solo career

In addition to the successes with Sylver, Silvy also started solo. In 2001 she worked with MNC , with whom she re-recorded the Eurythmics classic Sweet Dreams . Furthermore, she released the track I Don't Care with the Belgian dance group Milk Inc. (whose singer Linda Mertens she is also friends with) in 2004 , which was in the Belgian top 10 for a few weeks. In 2007 the song Time was released in Belgium with 4 clubbers. Under the stage name Sil , she released her first solo single on August 17, 2009, entitled Love Don't Come Easy .

Private life

On April 29, 2006, de Bie married her Moroccan fiancé Khalid Boujida, whom she had met five years earlier in a discotheque . On November 7th, 2007 Silvy gave birth to a daughter: Noor (Arabic, translated it means “the light”). In June 2008 it became public that the couple were divorcing.
