Secret Garden
Secret Garden is an instrumental oriented band from Norway . Members are the Norwegian keyboardist and composer Rolf Løvland and the Irish violinist Fionnuala Sherry .
Career
She became known to a wider public in 1995 when she won the Eurovision Song Contest , the second for Norway after 1985, when the duo Bobbysocks was successful with La det svinge (a composition by Rolf Løvland). The group caused a stir in that their winning title Nocturne consisted of just 24 words and was otherwise performed instrumentally. A title that participated in the ESC has never contained fewer words. Nocturne also gained prominence as part of the soundtrack for the film Shrek . The group was also able to contribute songs to other films. The piece Adagio can be heard in the film 2046 . Perhaps the best-known Secret Garden song is You Raise Me Up from the album Once In A Red Moon, which has now been covered by over 100 artists and groups, including Josh Groban , Celtic Woman , Westlife and Il Divo .
Secret Garden is stylistically assigned to the area of New Age and Irish Folk . Even today, more than twenty years after its founding, the group is very successful in this music genre. The album Earthsongs took first place in the US Billboard charts in the New Age category .
