Teach-In (tape)
Teach-In was a Dutch band that won the Eurovision Song Contest (in Germany at that time: Grand Prix d'Eurovision de la Chanson) for the Netherlands in 1975 with the song Ding-a-dong .
history
The band was formed in Enschede in 1969 . The first line-up consisted of:
- Hilda Felix ( vocals )
- Henk Westendorp (vocals)
- John Snuverink (vocals, guitar )
- Frans Schaddelee ( bass )
- Koos Versteeg (vocals, keyboard )
- Rudi Nijhuis ( drums )
In 1972 all members except Versteeg and Nijhuis left the group; they were replaced by Getty Kaspers (vocals; born March 5, 1948 in Weiz ), John Gaasbeek (bass), Chris de Wolde (guitar) and Ard Weeink. With this line-up, the group won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1975 . Her winning title Ding-A-Dong was covered by the BeFour group in 2009 .
In 1976 there was another change in the line-up : Kaspers, Gaasbek and Weeink left the group, and newcomers were Hans Nijland (bass), Betty Vermeulen (vocals) and Marianne Wolsink. In 1977 Nijland was replaced by Nick de Vos. Teach-In had three smaller hits (including: Dear John , an homage to John Travolta , and Upside down ) and broke up in 1979 .
Nowadays the band plays in various formations at revival concerts - such as B. “Textil Beat” (this concert takes place in the band's hometown, Enschede). However, the line-up is no longer comparable to the old formations; so the drummer was replaced by Fred Felix, brother of Hilda Felix ', who is (/ was) responsible for the vocals again and again.
