Sieneke Ashley Kristel Baum-Peeters (born April 1, 1992 in Nijmegen , the Netherlands ) is a Dutch singer .

Live and act

After Peeters had released an album with cover versions of various songs from the 1980s under the title It's My Dream in 2007 , she represented her home country in the semifinals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song Ik ben ran (Sha-la-lie) , where she ran took 14th place out of 17 participants and was eliminated. Although she also missed the top 10, she still placed better than some later qualifiers who only reached the final because of an additional jury rating. It was thus the most successful Dutch contribution since 2004. In addition, the song was placed at number 12 in the Dutch charts. It was the first contribution from the Netherlands, which also achieved first place in its own country.

National Song Festival

In the preliminary decision, which was organized by TROS for the first time in 2010 , four soloists and a girls' group competed. Everyone sang the contribution Ik ben ran (Sha-La-Lie) in their own version. A four-member jury, including Johnny Logan , voted on the candidates. Both Sieneke and the Loekz group received two votes, and after the audience rating could not determine the winner - the audience voted for Vinzzent, the only male singer in the competition - the author of the song, Pierre Kartner , had to choose the Dutch representative. After initially refusing and then being pushed to a decision, he opted for Peeters.
