history

Early history

Already around 7000 years ago people were in the Göbelnrod district. The oldest evidence comes from the Neolithic around 5000 BC. BC, the Neolithic. These artifacts are two square and rectangular hatchets, two shoe last wedges and one oval hatchet.

middle Ages

The medieval history of Göbelnrod is closely linked to that of the Wirberg monastery.

Historical forms of names

In documents that have been preserved, Göbelnrod was mentioned under the following names (the year it was mentioned in brackets):

  • Gebelenrade, Juxta villam (1310) [XVIII Eckhardt, Die Oberhessischen Klöster 3, 1, Nr. 1005]
  • Gebelinrode, versus (1320) [Wyss, document book of the Deutschordens-Ballei 2, no. 382]
  • Gobelnrode, to (15th century) [UB Gießen ...]

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Göbelnrod in 1830:

"Göbelnrod L Bez Grünberg evangel Filialdorf is 14 St. from Grünberg, has 49 houses and 270 Protestant residents, among whom are 37 farmers, 3 craftsmen and 5 day laborers."

With the introduction of compulsory schooling and the increasing number of students, Göbelnrod received its own village school, which was built in 1830. Before that, the students visited the school on Wirberg. Although the railway line between Giessen and Grünberg was opened as early as 1869, a stop with a train station was not built until 1908. In 1920 Göbelnrod was connected to the power grid. In 1933 the village received a bakery and fire station. Two years later a fire water pond was created. After the end of the war, the population grew due to the influx of displaced persons , mainly from the Sudetenland . The water supply was renewed in 1955 and in 1956 the connection to the modern sewer system and the expansion of the village streets followed. In the same year the weekend area at "Reitzenberg" was created. In 1963, the new parsonage and parish hall was built for the Wirberg parish in Göbelnrod. The residents built the morgue on the cemetery through their own efforts in 1965

In the course of the Hessian regional reform , Göbelnrod became a district of Grünberg on December 31, 1970.

The connection to the water supply network of the city of Grünberg was made in 1973 in order to be able to guarantee the fresh water supply. In 1976 the bakery and fire station was replaced by a new fire station with an integrated cooling room for the freezer community. The school was demolished in 1979. The new village community center on this site was inaugurated in 1981 . The year 1998 saw the renewal of the water supply line.

21st century

On March 16, 2000, the new youth center building was inaugurated and given its intended purpose. Göbelnrod celebrated the 700th anniversary of the village with numerous events between December 5, 2009 and New Year's Eve 2010. The highlight of the celebrations was the standing procession on September 12, 2010.

Village development

After the Second World War , 146 refugees, mainly from the districts of Bischofteinitz , Karlsbad and Reichenberg , were assigned to the village with around 320 inhabitants .

To expand the village, the building area "Kreuzberg" (upper forest road), in 1967 the "lower forest road" and in 1982 the contiguous areas "Wann" and "Seifenwiesen" were developed. In 1996 the "In der Wann" building area was expanded.

Territorial history and administration

The following list gives an overview of the territories in which Göbelnrod was located and the administrative units to which it was subordinate:

Law

Substantive law

In Göbelnrod, the town and official custom of Grünberg was a particular law . The Common Law was only included if the office I do not need regulations. This special law of old tradition retained its validity during the affiliation to the Grand Duchy of Hesse in the 19th century, until it was replaced on January 1, 1900 by the civil code that was uniformly valid throughout the German Empire .

Court constitution since 1803

In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt , the judicial system was reorganized in an executive order of December 9, 1803. The “Hofgericht Gießen” was set up as a court of second instance for the province of Upper Hesse . The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or landlords and thus the "Amt Grünberg" was responsible for Göbelnrod. The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate .

With the establishment of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806, this function was retained, while the tasks of the first instance were transferred to the newly created regional courts in 1821 as part of the separation of jurisdiction and administration. " Landgericht Grünberg " was therefore from 1821 to 1879 the name of the court of first instance that was responsible for Göbelnrod.

On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act with effect from October 1, 1879, as a result of which the previous grand-ducal Hessian regional courts were replaced by local courts in the same place, while the newly created regional courts now functioned as higher courts, the name was changed to "Amtsgericht Grünberg" and assigned to the district of the regional court of Giessen . On July 1, 1968, the Grünberg District Court was dissolved, Göbelnrod was added to the Alsfeld District Court . In the Federal Republic of Germany, the superordinate instances are the Regional Court of Giessen , the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main and the Federal Court of Justice as the last instance.
