Districts of Grünberg

Beltershain is a district of Grünberg in the central Hessian district of Gießen .

history

The oldest known written mention of Beltershain was in 1357 under the name Beltirshayn in the property registers of the St. Johannstift in Mainz . In that year the Frankfurt citizen Konrad von Fischborn sold his farm in Beltershain to the Wirberg monastery . In the middle of the 14th century a Konrad called Falkenstein held 28 acres of land as fief . Beltershain Church was built in the late 15th century . In 1495, Wirberg Monastery raised the so-called “Königsgeld zu Wirberg” with the villages of Reinhardshain , Beltershain, Lumda and Göbelnrod . In the Chronicle of Wirberg Monastery there is a reference to a battle between Prussians and French during the Seven Years' War for Beltershain . Today gather around the Wildacker redoubts and trenches from this period. In 1744 the first school was built in Beltershain. The teachers at that time held the prayer hours on Sunday and were both bell ringer and cantor . From 1787 the place belonged to the office of Grünberg in the Landgraviate of Hessen-Darmstadt .

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Beltershain in 1830:

"Beltershain (L. Bez. Grünberg) evangel. Branch village; is 12 St. from Grünberg, has 71 houses and 335 evangelicals, among whom are 48 farmers and 9 day laborers, Beltershain also has a church. "

After the Second World War , the village structure changed due to the inclusion of many expellees and the continued decline in agriculture.

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , Beltershain became a district of the city of Grünberg on December 31, 1970. In 1977 and 1978 the old school building was converted into a village community center. In 1979 a home for athletes was built in-house.

The cultural life in the place is maintained by numerous interest groups and associations.

Historical place names

Beltershain was mentioned under the following names in documents that have survived (the year in which it was mentioned in brackets):

  • to Beltirshayn (1357), (Eckhardt, Klosterarchive 7 No. 1057)
  • Bedlershayn, (middle of the 14th century), (Würdtwein, Diocesis Moguntina 3 p. 363);
  • Belterßhayn (14th century) (University Library Gießen Hs, 556/60, p. 75)

Territorial history and administration

The following list gives an overview of the territories in which Beltershain was located or the administrative units to which it was subordinate:

Law

Substantive law

In Beltershain, the town and official custom of Grünberg was a particular right . The Common Law was only included if the office I do not need regulations. This special law of old tradition retained its validity during the affiliation to the Grand Duchy of Hesse in the 19th century, until it was replaced on January 1, 1900 by the civil code that was uniformly valid throughout the German Empire .

Court constitution since 1803

In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt , the judicial system was reorganized with the implementing ordinance of December 9, 1803. The “Hofgericht Gießen” was set up as a court of second instance for the province of Upper Hesse . The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or landlords and thus the "Amt Grünberg" was responsible for Beltershain. The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate .

With the establishment of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806, this function was retained, while the tasks of the first instance were transferred to the newly created regional courts in 1821 as part of the separation of jurisdiction and administration. " Landgericht Grünberg " was therefore from 1821 to 1879 the name of the court of first instance that was responsible for Beltershain.

On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act with effect from October 1, 1879, as a result of which the previous grand-ducal Hessian regional courts were replaced by local courts in the same place, while the newly created regional courts now functioned as higher courts, the name was changed to "Amtsgericht Grünberg" and assigned to the district of the regional court of Giessen . On July 1, 1968, the Grünberg District Court was dissolved, and Beltershain was added to the Gießen District Court . In the Federal Republic of Germany, the superordinate instances are the Regional Court of Giessen , the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main and the Federal Court of Justice as the last instance.
